Jonathan Murphy is the Founder and Managing Director of GoGeomatics Canada, the most popular communications hub for the Canadian geomatics sector. He has created Canada’s largest professional social geomatics network, GoGeomatics Meetups, with the goal of strengthening and empowering the geospatial community. Jon has founded and chaired many notable geomatics conferences in Canada, including GeoIgnite, Canada’s premier geospatial leadership event. Additionally, he is the co-founder of SUMSF, the Subsurface Utility Mapping Strategy Forum, alongside Geoff Zeiss. Currently, his latest endeavor involves laying the foundation for what is envisioned to be Canada’s largest geomatics trade show, the National Geomatics Expo in Calgary, Alberta. Jon holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary and advanced diplomas in GIS and geomatics from COGS. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. In 2020, he joined the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) committee MC/ISO/TC 211 for Geographic information/Geomatics.
